I edited the rdp file. Adjusted the screen mode id:i:2 to screen mode id:i:1 and changed desktopwidth and desktopheight adjusted to the resolution. Had to try a few times adjusting desktopheight (login and logout) to make it fit properly. Doing it this way locked the rdp session in correct size, and with my setup correct placement on screen.
