Web23 ago 2024 · I'm considering swapping out the NP231 transfer case in my 2006 TJ with a NP241 from a 2003 Rubi. 2006 has the NSG370 6 speed manual transmission and the 2003 has the 5 speed manual NV3550. Anyone made this swap? Is it a direct bolt in or are adapters required because of different transmissions? Web12 apr 2024 · The TJ 241OR are all female 23 spline input. Any adapter kit that converts the output of the transmission to 23 spline, should work, just check the stick out on the shaft. You can go to Novak which has a kit and I believe that Advance Adapters does also.

The rear ring gear is 8.8" compared to 8.5" (IIRC) on the standard D44. The axle shaft diameter is significantly larger and there are more splines. We did not need to change anything on the input end of the TC or the front driveshaft. My 231 did not have a SYE, so I had to get a new rear driveshaft when I switched to a 241.
